Welcome!

A long time ago, I used to write blog posts on a regular basis. I did so for a period of six years starting just after being diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Back then it was actually PDD-NOS which a disability judge said in my presence, “That’s not autism”. But since then, the DSM-V came along and declared that it is. Anyway, now as co-pastor of EarthSpirit Interfaith Ministry, it’s time to start writing again to share with you the news and views of our church. The other co-pastor, my wife Rev. Becky, will also be contributing to this blog. We will always let you know who is writing in the beginning, as we each have different backgrounds and experiences. While EarthSpirit Interfaith Ministry is considered a pagan (beliefs and activities do not belong to any of the main organized religions of the world (Collins English Dictionary)) interfaith (involving more than one religion (Collins English Dictionary)) church, we recognize and honor all traditions and paths that recognize and celebrate the Divine. Here, we recognize the Divine as a manifestation of the universe itself, nature, and each other, and this is reflected in our regular gatherings and activities.

We’ve been around for a while. We just never became an official entity until February 14, 2024 when we filed the legal paperwork declaring ourselves a nonprofit charitable organization registered in our home state of Pennsylvania. As of yet, we are not a 501(c)(3), and churches in the U.S. do not need to be as long as they are operated as a 501(c)(3). We started EarthSpirit as an unincorporated, loose association of likeminded people shortly after buying the house we currently live in. We started having occasional get-togethers among friends in the loft above our garage. Eventually we remodeled the loft, and we currently use it as our indoor congregation area. Our plan for the future is to obtain our own building that can be used for church purposes including where we hold our services, house a food pantry, shower and laundry facilities for the needy, and with offices for various healing and counseling services. We are here to not only respect people of all loving paths and customs but to help the people of our community during their time of need.

So, what brings YOU here? The one thing that most all of our visitors have in common is the need to feel like they belong, that they matter, no matter what situation may have given them this need to begin with. Rest assured, you will certainly feel welcome here! Not just by us co-pastors, but by our fellow congregants as well. Are you considered a black sheep? Do you practice an obscure religion or philosophical path? Are you part of the LGBTQIA+ community? Are you a witch? Are you on a quest for self-discovery? Are you considered an outcast by your own family? Are you just looking to make meaningful connections with others? With “God”, even if you don’t know what that means? Welcome home. Your long-awaited place of rest is right here!
